About Chopping Spree!: Chopping Spree! is a Vancouver-based post-fusion band thriving in the city’s high-energy live scene. Rooted in jazz fusion but unafraid to veer off course, the band blends genres at will — drawing from classic jazz, 70s Japanese fusion, prog rock, heavy metal, psychedelia, funk/disco, post-rock, ambient textures, and even rap.

What sets them apart is their explosive stage presence and razor-sharp instrumental interplay. Every performance feels alive and unpredictable — hypnotic grooves colliding with sudden turns, tight precision meeting joyful chaos. It’s music built on deep musicianship but delivered with wild intensity and pure fun.

At their core, Chopping Spree! operates from a fusion mindset: open, fluid, and fearless. The result is a constantly shifting soundscape that keeps audiences locked in — part spectacle, part jam, part controlled explosion.

About The Shelf Concert:

Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, we bring raw, stripped-down performances to Vancouver — but with our own after-hours twist. On Wednesday nights, Hestia closes its doors to the public and transforms into a private listening room for just 60 guests. No blasting speakers, no artificial mixing — just pure, direct sound. Artists self-mix in the moment, adjusting to the space and the energy of the room. And since each concert is recorded live, the audience isn’t just watching — they’re part of the final cut. Every cheer, clap, and moment of silence is captured by the microphones forever.

How It Works

• The concert is structured into three short sets (three songs each), with two 5-minute breaks in between.

• Natural emotional reactions (clapping, cheering, vibing, etc.) are encouraged!

• During performances, we ask for minimal disruptive noise — think of it like being in a live recording session. Because it is!

• Breaks are off the record — the perfect time to chat, enjoy the buffet, or grab another drink.

• Some artists may extend their set or play an encore if the vibe feels right — show your love and you might just get more!
