About the event

About Emma Alves:

Emma Alves is a Vancouver-based singer-songwriter crafting music that moves fluidly between R&B, alternative pop, rock, and experimental soundscapes. Known for her ethereal vocals, enthralling lyricism, and fearless artistic evolution, Emma creates songs that feel both intimate and otherworldly — refusing to be confined by genre.

After more than a decade of releasing music, Emma has embraced a multi-genre approach that reflects her belief that emotion matters more than stylistic boundaries. Inspired by artists like Willow, Absolutely, and Hayley Williams, her upcoming sophomore album begins in R&B and gradually unfolds into rock, showcasing an artist unafraid to let each song become exactly what it wants to be. The result is music that's soulful, alluring, and constantly evolving.

For her Shelf session, Emma brings that same genre-defying spirit and emotional honesty into an intimate room built for listening. Expect haunting melodies, rich textures, and a performance that moves effortlessly between vulnerability, power, and surprise.

About The Shelf Concert:

Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, we bring raw, stripped-down performances to Vancouver — but with our own after-hours twist. On Wednesday nights, Hestia closes its doors to the public and transforms into a private listening room for just 60 guests. No blasting speakers, no artificial mixing — just pure, direct sound. Artists self-mix in the moment, adjusting to the space and the energy of the room. And since each concert is recorded live, the audience isn’t just watching — they’re part of the final cut. Every cheer, clap, and moment of silence is captured by the microphones forever.

Your ticket includes:

✔️ Exclusive access to the session — An intimate, after-hours concert in the closed restaurant space at Hestia.

✔️ A late-night buffet — Curated by HESTIA to make the night feel even more special.

✔️ A role in the recording – Your energy, your reactions, your moment.

How It Works

  • The concert is structured into three short sets (three songs each), with two 5-minute breaks in between.

  • Natural emotional reactions (clapping, cheering, vibing, etc.) are encouraged!

  • During performances, we ask for minimal disruptive noise — think of it like being in a live recording session. Because it is!

  • Breaks are off the record — the perfect time to chat, enjoy the buffet, or grab another drink.

  • Some artists may extend their set or play an encore if the vibe feels right — show your love and you might just get more!

Limited to 60 spots. Every session is unique and will not appear again.
