About Damasco Soul System:

Damasco Soul System is a Latin reggae collective rooted in rhythm, community, and cultural memory. Drawing from the ancestral pulse of Africa and the living heartbeat of South America, their sound blends reggae and dancehall with capoeira rhythms, cumbia, samba, bossa nova, and Afrobeat—music built on movement, connection, and shared vibration.

Founded by singer, songwriter, and percussionist David Silva, the project is shaped by a life steeped in art, resistance, and rhythm. Born in Montreal and raised in Chile following his family’s exile, David’s journey moved through visual arts, capoeira, and African percussion before finding its voice in reggae and dancehall. Rhythm sits at the core of everything Damasco Soul System creates.

More than a band, Damasco Soul System treats sound as vibration—a “soul system” that brings people together through groove. Performing in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, their live shows are communal, high-energy, and immersive, inviting the room to move, connect, and feel the music as one.

About The Shelf Concert:

Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, we bring raw, stripped-down performances to Vancouver — but with our own after-hours twist. On Wednesday nights, Hestia closes its doors to the public and transforms into a private listening room for just 60 guests. No blasting speakers, no artificial mixing — just pure, direct sound. Artists self-mix in the moment, adjusting to the space and the energy of the room. And since each concert is recorded live, the audience isn’t just watching — they’re part of the final cut. Every cheer, clap, and moment of silence is captured by the microphones forever.

How It Works

• The concert is structured into three short sets (three songs each), with two 5-minute breaks in between.

• Natural emotional reactions (clapping, cheering, vibing, etc.) are encouraged!

• During performances, we ask for minimal disruptive noise — think of it like being in a live recording session. Because it is!

• Breaks are off the record — the perfect time to chat, enjoy the buffet, or grab another drink.

• Some artists may extend their set or play an encore if the vibe feels right — show your love and you might just get more!
