About Orchid Orchestra:
Orchid Orchestra is a Vancouver-based indie pop band blending choral harmonies, hip-hop grooves, and theatrical storytelling into a bold, emotionally resonant sound. Fronted by therapist and songwriter Rupert Hudson, their music explores grief, self-acceptance, and connection with raw honesty—often moving audiences to tears. After touring with Chance the Rapper’s camp, Hudson stepped away to live at a meditation centre and work as a fire lookout. Those experiences shaped the band’s soul, which formed at Vancouver’s Chorus Studio and quickly became a local favourite, headlining venues like The Biltmore and Root Dwellers. Following their second EP Be Lucky, they’re now developing their debut album and recently received a Creative BC grant to support early demos. Orchid Orchestra’s immersive live shows and heartfelt songwriting continue to build a loyal community—creating music that invites both dancing and deep feeling in equal measure. At The Shelf, Orchid Orchestra will perform songs from the upcoming album with their full live band—offering an emotionally immersive experience that invites both dancing and deep feeling.

About The Shelf Concert:
Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, we bring raw, stripped-down performances to Vancouver. No blasting speakers, no artificial mixing—just pure, direct sound. Artists self-mix in the moment, adjusting to the space and energy of the room. And since each concert is recorded live, the audience isn’t just watching—they’re part of the final cut. Every cheer, clap, and moment of silence is captured forever.

How It Works
• The concert is structured into multiple sets (3 minimum) of three songs, with short 10-minute breaks in between.
• Natural emotional reactions (clapping, cheering, vibing, etc.) are encouraged!
• During performances, we ask for minimal disruptive noise—think of it like being in a live recording session. And it is!
• Breaks are off the record—the perfect time to chat, grab another drink, or order more food.
• Artists may extend their set if the vibe is right. Show your love, and you might just get an encore!
