About RUNNER:
Runner is a Vancouver-based band led by singer-songwriter Kira Cuthbertson. After moving west from Calgary to work in the audio industry, Kira met bandmates Mackenzie Knight, Hayden Watson, and Alex Walters in local studios long before they ever shared a stage.
The name runner is a nod to their beginnings behind the scenes, with most of the band getting their start as studio runners. Their sound blends prairie folk, alt-country, and indie rock—think if Tom Petty were raised on Springsteen but listens to Big Thief now. Or if Sheryl Crow wrote breakup songs while waiting for her socks to dry at the laundromat.
Since their first show in April 2024, they’ve headlined local gigs across Western Canada and opened for legends like Blue Rodeo. With three singles out and a debut EP on the way this Fall, runner makes music for road trips, living rooms, and places where meaning quietly takes shape.

About The Shelf Concert:
Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, we bring raw, stripped-down performances to Vancouver. No blasting speakers, no artificial mixing—just pure, direct sound. Artists self-mix in the moment, adjusting to the space and energy of the room. And since each concert is recorded live, the audience isn’t just watching—they’re part of the final cut. Every cheer, clap, and moment of silence is captured forever.

How It Works
• The concert is structured into multiple sets (3 minimum) of three songs, with short 10-minute breaks in between.
• Natural emotional reactions (clapping, cheering, vibing, etc.) are encouraged!
• During performances, we ask for minimal disruptive noise—think of it like being in a live recording session. And it is!
• Breaks are off the record—the perfect time to chat, grab another drink, or order more food.
• Artists may extend their set if the vibe is right. Show your love, and you might just get an encore!
