Concert & Buffet #53 - Pastel Blank

Wed, Jun 24

|

Richmond

Nervous grooves. Sharp edges. A reason to dance anyway. Session #53 brings Pastel Blank — a project led by songwriter Angus Watt, blending post-punk, art-pop, disco, and indie rock into something familiar, strange, and irresistibly rhythmic. Angular, cathartic, and full of restless energy.

About the event

About Pastel Blank:

Pastel Blank is a project centered around the songs and voice of songwriter Angus Watt, brought to life by an ever-shifting cast of collaborators from Montréal, Vancouver, and Victoria. Existing somewhere between a solo project and a full band, Pastel Blank blends post-punk, art-pop, disco, and indie rock into a sound that feels both familiar and slightly alien.

Built on nervous grooves, angular rhythms, and pop-minded songwriting, the music balances experimentation with accessibility. Shimmering melodies and danceable energy collide with a restless sense of uncertainty, creating songs that feel playful, cathartic, and impossible to predict. There is funkiness here, but it’s tempered by tension — as if the music itself is discovering where it wants to go in real time.

For their Shelf session, Pastel Blank brings that same restless energy, rhythmic pull, and emotional release into a room built for listening — where every groove, every shift, and every unexpected turn lands with clarity.

Arrangement of the Session:

Angus Watt — Vocals / Guitar

Jameson Daniel — Guitar

Rachel Silverstein — Keyboards

Ethan Soil — Drums

Isaac Seglins — Bass

About The Shelf Concert:

Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, we bring raw, stripped-down performances to Vancouver — but with our own after-hours twist. On Wednesday nights, Hestia closes its doors to the public and transforms into a private listening room for just 60 guests. No blasting speakers, no artificial mixing — just pure, direct sound. Artists self-mix in the moment, adjusting to the space and the energy of the room. And since each concert is recorded live, the audience isn’t just watching — they’re part of the final cut. Every cheer, clap, and moment of silence is captured by the microphones forever.

Your ticket includes:

✔️ Exclusive access to the session — An intimate, after-hours concert in the closed restaurant space at Hestia.

✔️ A late-night buffet — Curated by HESTIA to make the night feel even more special.

✔️ A role in the recording – Your energy, your reactions, your moment.

How It Works

  • The concert is structured into three short sets (three songs each), with two 5-minute breaks in between.

  • Natural emotional reactions (clapping, cheering, vibing, etc.) are encouraged!

  • During performances, we ask for minimal disruptive noise — think of it like being in a live recording session. Because it is!

  • Breaks are off the record — the perfect time to chat, enjoy the buffet, or grab another drink.

  • Some artists may extend their set or play an encore if the vibe feels right — show your love and you might just get more!

Limited to 60 spots. Every session is unique and will not appear again.
