About the event

About The Hausplants:
The Hausplants are a Vancouver-based indie post-punk trio crafting music that moves between sun-soaked tones and darker, macabre undercurrents. Formed by Iran-born Amir Alav, Mongolia-born Sondor Mendbayar, and US-born Anna Zeleny, their sound is shaped by cultural hybridity, emotional depth, and a shared instinct for experimentation.
Blending poetic lyricism with raw, energetic arrangements, The Hausplants create soundscapes that feel both liberated and unpredictable — music that resists easy definition while remaining deeply immersive. Their work carries a tension between light and shadow, where bright textures and driving rhythms meet a darker, more introspective edge.
The band has independently released two EPs, earning features from outlets such as The Georgia Straight, KEXP, NPR, CKUA, and CiTR, and were named one of the “10 Vancouver music acts to watch in 2026” by the Vancouver Sun. With over 50 live performances and festival appearances, including Khatsahlano, Unreal City, and Vancouver Fringe Festival, they continue to build momentum while preparing their debut LP and an upcoming deluxe release of Into Equilibrium.
For their Shelf session, The Hausplants bring that same restless energy into a room built for listening — where every shift, texture, and moment of tension lands with clarity.
Arrangement of the Session:
Anna Zeleny — Vocals / Bass
Amir Alav — Guitar / Backing Vocals
Sondor Mendbayar — Drums
About The Shelf Concert:
Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, we bring raw, stripped-down performances to Vancouver — but with our own after-hours twist. On Wednesday nights, Hestia closes its doors to the public and transforms into a private listening room for just 60 guests. No blasting speakers, no artificial mixing — just pure, direct sound. Artists self-mix in the moment, adjusting to the space and the energy of the room. And since each concert is recorded live, the audience isn’t just watching — they’re part of the final cut. Every cheer, clap, and moment of silence is captured by the microphones forever.
Your ticket includes:
✔️ Exclusive access to the session — An intimate, after-hours concert in the closed restaurant space at Hestia.
✔️ A late-night buffet — Curated by HESTIA to make the night feel even more special.
✔️ A role in the recording – Your energy, your reactions, your moment.
How It Works
The concert is structured into three short sets (three songs each), with two 5-minute breaks in between.
Natural emotional reactions (clapping, cheering, vibing, etc.) are encouraged!
During performances, we ask for minimal disruptive noise — think of it like being in a live recording session. Because it is!
Breaks are off the record — the perfect time to chat, enjoy the buffet, or grab another drink.
Some artists may extend their set or play an encore if the vibe feels right — show your love and you might just get more!
Limited to 60 spots. Every session is unique and will not appear again.
